Garrett Metal Detectors

Here is a write up on Garrett Metal Detectors, who they are and what their products are. Well worth reading before you decide to buy a Garret gold metal detector.

In any purchase of a gold metal detector it is always a good idea to know as much about the metal detector and its manufacturer before you buy.

Who are Garrett Metal Detectors
Garrett Metal Detectors was first established in April 1964 and the website was launched in 1998 as garrett.com.

Garrett Metal Detectors was started up by Charles Garrett, current President and Chief Executive Officer, and his wife, Eleanor Garrett who is the Executive Vice President. Since they started in the garage of their home over 40 years ago Garrett Metal Detectors has expanded to be one of the prominent metal detector manufacturers in the home, security and countermine areas.

In 1968, understanding the tremendous value of a distributor network, Garrett begins placing ads to set up dealerships across the country and quickly established distributors around the country.

In the same year, Garrett becomes the first manufacturer to eliminate oscillator drift. He also designs and patents his revolutionary, independently-operated search coils which greatly improve treasure hunting efficiency and was the first to overcome searchcoil drift by inventing (and patenting) a special coaxial searchcoil winding technique.

These discoveries launch Garrett to the forefront of the industry. Many of his competitors close their doors or later acquiesce that the Zero Drift Revolution, as it is now called, changed the metal detection industry forever.

In 1971 Garrett Metal Detectors moves into a new 15,000 square foot facility and begins increasing production of its more sophisticated products and produced the first low cost metal detector - The Mini Hunter. This was followed up in 1973 with the first TR (Transmitter-Receiver) metal detector.

Later, in 1974 Garrett begins worldwide distribution of the, now famous, Gravity Trap Gold Pan, designed and patented by Roy Lagal of Lewiston, Idaho. This gold pan continues to be the world’s most popular gold pan. Garrett then introduced the original GroundHog VLF/TR prospecting and general purpose detector.

In 1978 Garrett began to open international dealerships and now has dealerships around the world including Australia and the UK.

By the mid 1980s Garrett Metal Detectors had become one of the largest metal detector manufacturers with over 1,800 distributors worldwide. Garrett Also introduced the Sea Hunter, an underwater pulse induction metal detector.

Garrett has also supplied security metal detectors for various Olympic games including Korea, Sydney Australia and Salt Lake city and has been named the official security metal detector supplier for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada.

Garrett Metal Detectors ISO 9001:2000 Certified & Warranty
